The Polo Agency sponsored the first match of The Westbury Shield Charity Day, Coworth Park, Berkshire.

On Sunday 5th July 2009, 400 invited guests were treated to a day of keenly contested Polo on the grounds at Coworth Park in Berkshire, competing for the coveted Westbury Shield and The Polo Agency Silver Cup. The main match of the day was played at a blistering pace and saw the Apes Hill Club take away the Westbury Shield, defeating Knowledge to Action.

The day raised over £50,000 in support of three charitable causes: Tusk Trust, Sentebale and Mountain Rescue England and Wales, all supported by Prince William and Prince Harry who participated on the day.

Commenting, Alan O'Sullivan of The Polo Agency said 'We are delighted to sponsor one of the matches at this most prestigious polo event and help raise funds for the Princes charities'.

The Polo Agency is skilled at creating and organising related activities, such as parties and discreet gatherings during the polo season. The pre-Cartier International Polo Players Party is an example of an event which brings together everyone from the world of Polo and links them up with sponsors and other commercial organisations. The evening party was created five years ago by Alan O'Sullivan and provides an opportunity for everyone to relax and meet during the week leading up to the biggest polo event of the season.

The party was given a big tick by Country Life when it was ranked in the top ten parties of the season.

Quintessentially Loves Polo

The first-ever polo event for Quintessentially members and other VIP guests organised by The Polo Agency was held at Coworth Park in 2007. It turned out to be a resounding success and is now an annual event most recently being held at the Royal Berkshire Polo Club.

Guests were greeted with champagne and treated to a Latin-themed afternoon of fabulous food, drink and live entertainment with fabulous Flamenco guitarist Jackson Scott and his band. There was time to soaked up the atmosphere before watching the first of the two matches between Dr Rita Rakus and FT HowTo Spend It team who were the eventual winners. Lloyds TSB Private Banking won the second of the matches despite leading international player Henry Brett heading up the Quintessentially team challenge.

Following on from the prize presentations, private members club Raffles provided music and entertainment from 6pm followed by an after party back at Raffles, Chelsea which went into the early hours of the next day.

The setting was perfect for friends and family to have fun and relax at one of the most exclusive gatherings of the season.
